Yonaka I Wool Fiber Art Medium (40×40)

Description

Yonaka I is a hand punched wool painting made by Lina.

The Yonaka — meaning “in the middle of the night” — series emerges from the quiet depths of the night, those in-between hours when the world softens and thoughts move slower. It features soft organic forms that drift and hover like dream fragments, over an inky black background, finding calm and beauty in the dark.

With a nod to Japanese kawaii and pop culture, each piece balances sweetness with attitude. Rounded silhouettes and candy-like hues bring a sense of charm and character to the quiet dark background.

Encasing each composition is a bright, eye-catching frame which — together with the gentle fuzziness of the wool —  adds an extra tactile dimension to each work. So please DO touch!

Punch needle is an embroidery technique using a small handheld wooden pen with a hollow needle that “punches” yarn through fabric, one loop at a time. Therefore it is much slower and more detailed than the now popular tufting technique, which uses a powered tufting gun.
